Even today in Bihar, many communities socially excluded groups, children, women, youth, LGBTQIA+ individuals, destitute and single-family households are not just living in difficult conditions, but are silently carrying the weight of exclusion, stigma, and lost opportunities.

Bound by rigid social norms and behavioral limitations, many are pushed into isolation, where self-doubt slowly replaces confidence, and dreams begin to feel distant and unreachable. Over time, hardship starts to feel like destiny, injustice becomes normalized, and voices fade into silence keeping them disconnected from the mainstream of society.

But behind every silent reality, there is a life waiting to be seen, a dream waiting to be realized, and a possibility waiting to emerge. Dalit Vikas Abhiyan Samiti (DVAS) is committed to transforming these realities through a deeply human, community-driven, and inclusive approach where every individual is supported to rediscover their identity, rebuild confidence, and move towards opportunities with dignity.

Because real change begins when people stop accepting limitations and start believing in their own potential.

Fostering Confidence and Identity

Our goal is not just outreach, but to build a strong foundation of inclusive development where no one feels excluded, neglected, or left behind. There are many individuals who lack access to opportunities, struggle with low confidence, and fail to recognize their own potential. We strive to reach each of them and nurture new thinking, new hope, and the confidence to move forward.

We create an environment where individuals are not defined by their circumstances, but empowered to shape their own identity. Through education, livelihoods, and social participation, we help them establish a dignified and meaningful presence in the mainstream. Our aim is for every individual regardless of background to recognize their inner strength, become self-reliant, and emerge as a source of inspiration for their family, community, and society.

A Community-Led Path to Empowerment

Our strategy begins with the individual and expands to the community ensuring that people become active participants in their own transformation. Through continuous dialogue, participation, and experiential learning, we nurture a mindset where people see themselves not as limited, but full of potential.

We empower youth, adolescent girls, and women through education, personality development, mental strengthening, and career guidance. At the same time, we connect them to livelihoods, entrepreneurship, and social protection schemes to ensure a secure, dignified, and stable life.

We believe sustainable change happens when communities lead their own development. Therefore, we build community-based platforms such as Ambedkar Gram Samiti, Savitribai Phule Kishori Clubs, and Bihar Ambedkar Youth Forum. These platforms enable people to share experiences, understand challenges, and collectively design solutions.

Through capacity building, regular meetings, training, and collective decision-making, we strengthen leadership, responsibility, and collaboration within communities transforming individuals into active agents of change. We also build partnerships with institutions and like-minded organizations to create a collaborative ecosystem where knowledge, resources, and opportunities are shared for greater impact.

We don't just connect people we empower them to define their own path and lead change within their communities.

A Legacy of Transformed Lives

This three-decade journey is not just about numbers�it is a powerful story of transformed lives. DVAS has reached over 2.5 million people, bringing inclusive development to the grassroots�where silence has turned into expression, fear into confidence, and hesitation into courage.

Women who once saw themselves as limited are now decision-makers and leaders. Youth who felt left behind are now building new identities through education, skills, and livelihoods. DVAS�s direct efforts in the implementation of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act, 2016 have strengthened safety, dignity, and trust for thousands of families�empowering them to live fearlessly and with confidence.

Today, communities reflect connection instead of isolation, hope instead of despair, and active participation instead of silence. Most importantly, people are no longer defined by circumstances�they are shaping their own futures.

Future Vision

Dalit Vikas Abhiyan Samiti's future vision is rooted in a clear commitment to bring inclusive development to every individual and make it sustainable. In the coming years, we aim to engage over 500,000 youth, adolescent girls, women, and community members through education, skills, behavioral change, and leadership development.

We are strengthening community institutions by establishing and empowering 5,000 Savitribai Phule Kishori Clubs and 5,000 Ambedkar Gram Committees, while further strengthening the Bihar Ambedkar Youth Forum as a unified youth force. These platforms will be connected into a strong network, enabling coordination with the state government so that community voices influence policies and development becomes more inclusive and effective.

We will also expand opportunities in digital skills, career development, and entrepreneurship helping individuals become self-reliant in a rapidly changing world. By focusing on behavioral transformation, we will nurture confidence, positivity, and social connectedness, while ensuring access to social protection systems through continuous training and support.
